Good Monday Morning to you all. I hope your up bright and early and ready to start another school day. I’m thankful that I’ve had a lot of questions about homeschooling lately. That means more moms and dads are joining the ranks of homeschooling and taking control of what there children are learning. I was appalled to find out how young public school is teaching sex education. I really think its smarter to keep our children’s innocence as long as we can. It’s my opinion not to teach them grown up things like that until the reach an age where they are mentally able to comprehend it without laughing and getting completely embarrassed. Now, I am not talking about preventative measures to guard them from crimes against them. I do not believe in leaving them in the dark, but that’s not what the public school system is doing.
Now, finished with that rant and I want to discuss incentives! Incentives are the little things we home school parents do give our children something to strive for. I’ll give you an example: my son had some trouble reading. So, to motivate him we purchase 24 star war lego figures. Every time he read an entire book he was allowed to pick one out. His reading has improved by leaps and bounds. He also wants to read everyday. He wants to earn another guy (as he calls it). It cost me about $16.00. You can also do other things to motivate your children. This is just something we tried and it worked.
So the moral of this blog post. Try incentives when your child is stuck or just lacks enthusiasm concerning a subject. Blessings this school year.
